Coach: Dan Nadeau

Assistant Coach- John Malinowski
Team Manager- Susan Bartosic

Dan Nadeau has coached youth basketball for 15 years. This is his fourth season of coaching AAU basketball for the Fairfax Stars. In the past three seasons of coaching the Stars, his teams have participated in the traditional spring season, along with the summer, fall, and winter leagues. This past summer season, his team participated in the AAU Division 2 National Championship Tournament in Lexington, Ky. In addition, he has coached for other AAU organizations, house league teams (12 years), County travel teams for 6 seasons, and has assisted in coaching High School teams for 3 seasons. His past travel teams have won two county championships and he was selected Most Valuable Coach in the 2000/2001 season for Fairfax County Youth Basketball League. He is currently the coach of the Boys U-11 Chantilly 1 select travel team for the 2006/2007 season.

Coach Nadeau focuses on individual development for each player. Fundamentals of one on one play and two on two play are stressed. There is also emphasis on the importance of team play, particularly on high speed transition basketball and team defense. Coach Nadeau sets team goals at the start of each season and defines the key strategies necessary for team success to each of his players. Practices have a set schedule with specific goals but with an emphasis on learning, getting better, and having fun. Coach Nadeau’s teams participate in the most competitive tournaments available but he also balances the competition needs with a realistic approach to the travel challenges and commitments that come with AAU basketball. Coach Nadeau recognizes the importance of athletic options at this age and is flexible in working with families that have additional commitments in other competitive youth sports.

Dan Nadeau is a graduate of Providence College, and is married with three children. His oldest daughter plays basketball at Washington and Lee University.
